Episode: Connections: John Lennon Birthday Celebration with Special Guest Chris Frantz
October 8, 2021 special edition of Connections on WPKN with Eric Cocks celebrating the life and music of John Lennon with my good friends Chris Frantz and Deb Guhl. It’s spontaneous! It’s non-linear!!
Lots of rarities, outtakes, alternate versions, works in progress, backing tracks, studio sessions, live music, song development and unreleased music from all different time periods, along with music from The Beatles and from Harry Nilsson produced by his friend John.
The show is quite free wheeling with stories, personal recollections, miscellaneous thoughts and plenty of humor throughout as we pay tribute and have fun talking about one of the great musicians, songwriters, artists and public figures of all time, who’s influence on so many others continues to resonate throughout the world.
This show is also a low key fundraiser for WPKN, done in the spirit of having fun exploring John and his music, while also doing a very loose and thoroughly entertaining show.
Luckily, this may have been one of the most successful fundraisers we’ve ever done and we’d like to thank everyone who tuned in and/or donated on our behalf as we get ready for a move to Downtown Bridgeport in November.
If you’re just listening now, feel free to donate, either by phone at 203-331-9756 during business hours or online at wpkn.org.
Great thanks to my friends Chris Frantz of Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club and Deb Guhl, both of whom have terrific shows on WPKN.
Thanks for tuning in!!
It’s more fun than the news!!
