Episode: Spontaneous Connections: New Bowie mixes, plus new and vintage music

Sep 29, 2017 episode of Connections on WPKN with Eric Cocks, filling in for my good friend Chris Frantz. New and vintage music, including an exploration of the new David Bowie 11 cd box set, A New Career In A New Town [1977-1982].

The show starts with several tracks from the Bowie box, including three new remixes by producer Tony Visconti, from the album Lodger. During the recording of Low, Heroes and Lodger, Bowie was at one of his creative peaks, combining influences and breaking new ground. The new mixes are fantastic!

The show goes on with new music by Paper Pilots, Robyn Hitchcock, Beck, Robert Plant, Chris Hillman (of The Byrds and Flying Burrito Brothers), Daphne & The Golden Chord (produced by Tony Visconti), Kristeen Young (co-produced by Tony Visconti), Charlotte Gainsbourg, Sloane Peterson, BNQT, Kita Klane, Kendra Morris, Goldfrapp, Space Blue, Phoebe Bridges, St Vincent, Stars, Filthy Friends and Matthew Dear.

Also Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Tom Tom Club (who have a great new video of As Above So Below), The Rolling Stones, Talking Heads, The La's, Gary Calamar, The Who, a rare John Lennon demo, The Nazz, The Marathons, The Bar-Kays, Screaming Sardines, The Squeaky Chairs and whatever happened in the moment.

Great thanks to Nathan Zingg for joining me in the early part of the show and to Chris Frantz for asking me to fill in!

Thanks for tuning in!!
