1) Isabel Nunez, Professor of Educational Studies, and Director of the School of Education at Purdue University, Fort Wayne, Indiana, talks about her recent article on the Los Angeles teachers strike, and related issues including the threat charter schools' pose to public education through their incremental project of privatization.

2) Steve Ellner, professor at the Universidad de Oriente, in Venezuela and author of, "Latin America's Radical Left," discusses the current political and economic situation in Venezuela, where the president of the National Assembly Juan Guaido, proclaimed himself president of the nation on Jan. 11th in an effort to oust currently serving president Nicolás Maduro, after which he was briefly detained by intelligence officers.

3) Josh Ruebner, policy director with the U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights examines the U.S. Senate's effort to pass the "Combating BDS Act," S-170, and the chilling effect such legislation will have on free speech in general, and on supporters of the BDS movement in particular.

4) Thomas A. Saenz, president and general counsel of MALDEF, the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, assesses President Trump's recent "dead on arrival" proposal to end the government shutdown -- and his group's response to a federal court ruling vacating the Trump administration’s decision to add a citizenship question to the 2020 Census. He'll also explain his group's own litigation in Maryland federal court which is set for trial on January 22nd.
