Episode: 12.13.21: Counterpoint host Scott Harris discusses NATO's role in Russia-Ukraine tensions; After outlawing abortion what's the Christian right's next target?; Vaccine apartheid creates dangerous COVID variants; UK court OKs Julian Assange US extradition

Counterpoint, hosted by Scott Harris, is heard every Monday night on WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT between 8:00 - 10:00 pm ET. Webstreaming and audio archive at http://wpkn.org

1) David Gibbs, Professor of History at the University of Arizona discusses his views on rising tensions between Russia and the U.S., centered on Vladimir Putin's military buildup on the Ukraine-Russia border, and the provocation often cited by Moscow: NATO's expansion eastward.

2) Political Research Associates Senior Research Analyst Heron Greenesmith, discusses the Supreme Court's possible future ruling overturning Roe V. Wade in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case -- and the potential for the conservative majority on the court to overturn other precedent setting rulings on fundamental rights opposed by the Christian right.

3) Robbie Silverman, Senior Manager, Private Sector Advocacy with Oxfam America, talks about his group's concern that "the refusal of pharmaceutical companies to openly share their vaccine science and technology, coupled with the lack of action from rich countries to ensure access to vaccines globally, have created the perfect breeding ground for new variants such as Omicron."

4) Kevin Gosztola, Managing Editor of the news website Shadowproof, examines London's High Court ruling that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange can be extradited to the US to face espionage charges, as well as the Biden administration's decision to seek extradition, that runs counter to what they say is America's foundational commitment to protect journalists and freedom of the press.
