Episode: Counterpoint host Scott Harris discusses Russia's alleged role in the 2016 US election; Mass goverment surveillance under the next president; opposition to the proposed AT&T-Time Warner merger & Obamacare's flaws and proposed reforms/replacements

Counterpoint, Halloween Edition hosted by Scott Harris, is heard every Monday night on WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT between 8:00 - 10:00 pm ET. Webstreaming and audio archive at http://wpkn.org

1) Investigative journalist, author and editor of ConsortiumNews.com Robert Parry, examines the role of "villain" Russia has played in the 2016 U.S. election campaign -- and the concern by many that Hillary Clinton if elected president would ratchet up tensions with Putin and Russia, reviving a dangerous, new Cold War, touching on some of the points made in his recent article titled, "The Democrats' Joe McCarthy Moment."

2) Sue Udry, executive director of the Defending Dissent Foundation, discusses some of the major issues re: government surveillance, privacy and security that the next president will need to address. She'll review both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump's positions on these issues -- and the reforms DDF and other civil liberties groups will be advocating the next president and Congress adopt.

3) Matt Wood, political director of the media democracy group FreePress.net, takes a critical look at the proposed merger between AT&T and Time Warner -- adding to the trend of increased concentration of media ownership, and the potential negative fallout for consumers with both higher prices and a decrease in content choices.

4) John P. Geyman, professor emeritus of family medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle, talks about the recent rise in health insurance premiums under Obamacare, and the various proposals to reform the program, i.e. establish a public option -- and the advocacy of Physicians for a National Health Program and other groups to move the U.S. to a single payer health care system, aka "Medicare For All." Both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump's views on health care issues will be assessed.
