Episode: 01.29.24: Counterpoint host Scott Harris discusses Intl Court of Justice order against Israel in Gaza War; Accountability for Boeing's safety issues; Protests erupt against extremist Argentine president Javier Milei; Media normalizes Trump's Fascism

Counterpoint, hosted by Scott Harris, is heard every Monday night on WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT between 8:00 – 9:30 pm ET. Webstreaming and audio archive at http://wpkn.org

1) Robert L. Herbst, is a civil rights lawyer in New York, who served as a federal prosecutor in Chicago and Philadelphia. Attorney Herbst, co-chair of the U.S. chapter of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions, a former coordinator of the Westchester New York Chapter of Jewish Voice for Peace, and he's also served as an independent investigator and prosecutor for the International Criminal Tribunals for Rwanda and Sierra Leone. Herbst will examine the order issued by the International Court of Justice on South Africa’s request for an interim ruling in its genocide case against Israel, where it rejected Israel's petition to throw out the case, and ordered Israel to do more to prevent the killing of civilians in Gaza, although it stopped short of ordering the ceasefire South Africa had demanded.

2) Katya Schwenk, a reporter with The Lever investigative news site discusses her recent Lever article, "Will Biden Rescind Trump’s Boeing Immunity Deal?" -- and will also touch on how the FAA permits Boeing to delegate some of its inspection functions to the company's own engineers, creating inherent conflicts of interest that jeopardizes the safety of the flying public.

3) Pablo Pryluka, Doctoral Candidate in the Department of History at Princeton University will examine Argentina's newly elected "anarcho-capitalist" President Javier Milei's new government, his austerity agenda, the one-day general strike called by Argentina's labor unions on 1/24/24 - and some of the important issues examined in his recent Jacobin interview, "Javier Milei Wants to Ignite a Far-Right Cultural Revolution."

4) Sarah Kendzior, co-host of the Gaslit Nation podcast, author of "They Knew: How a Culture of Conspiracy Keeps America Complacent," and "Hiding in Plain Sight," discusses her views on how corporate media is normalizing the GOP presidential primary campaign, despite Trump's regular pronouncements re: his fascist agenda -- as well as the failure of Pres. Biden & Merrick Garland's DOJ to hold Trump and his allies accountable for their failed coup, or to fight for measures urgently needed to safeguard U.S. democracy.
