1) Marge Baker, Executive Vice President for Policy and Program with People For the American Way assesses the testimony of Rick Bright, the ousted head of government's HHS’s Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, the urgent need for competent federal coordination of the nation's pandemic response -- and the importance of accountability for President Trump and his administration for their apparently deliberate sabotage of the government's response to the COVID-19 health crisis.
2) Sylvia Albert, Director of the Voting & Elections program with Common Cause, and Elizabeth’s Howard, Counsel with the Brennan Center's Democracy program and former Deputy Commissioner for the Virginia Department of Elections, will discuss the importance of allocating adequate federal and state resources to prepare mail-in-voting, absentee ballot systems to ensure all voters can participate in this November's presidential and congressional election amid the coronavirus pandemic.
3) Maya Rockeymoore Cummings, widow of the late Congressman Elijah Cummings and former chair of the Maryland Democratic Party, is a candidate for U.S. Congress representing her late husband's seat in Maryland's 7th Congressional District. Cummings will face Kwesi Mfume in the June 2nd Democratic primary election. Mfume formerly held that same seat and is past president of the NAACP. Cummings is proposing a "New Deal for COVID-19 and in the 21st Century," that will address health disparities and promote justice for all.
4) Rob Baril, President of the SEIU Healthcare 1199 NE union, will talk about his members' health and safety during this coronavirus health crisis, with a focus on access to personal protective equipment, testing and the care of patients in nursing homes and senior residences, which have been especially hard hit by illness and death in the pandemic.
