1) Jamal Abdi, Policy Director with the National Iranian American Council, assesses the prospect that Republican controlled House and Senate may kill the international Iran nuclear weapons agreement by imposing additional sanctions on Tehran, after President Trump decertified the deal last week and deferred a decision on the ultimate fate of the agreement to the U.S. Congress.
2) Eagan Kemp, health care policy advocate with Public Citizen and a former Senior Policy Analyst at the U.S. Government Accountability Office, examines the impact of President Trump's recent executive orders impacting the U.S. health care system, ending $9 billion in subsidies to offset the cost of health insurance for low income Americans -- and expanding access to "association health plans," both moves widely criticized as a method of sabotaging Obamacare/ the Affordable Care Act, that will result in an increase in the number of American without health insurance, the erosion of health insurance standards, substantial increases in insurance premiums and market instability.
3) Jackie Cabasso, National Co-convener with the group United for Peace and Justice and Executive Director of the Western States Legal Foundation, discusses the U.S. peace movement's reaction to President Trump's alarming threats to use nuclear weapons against North Korea, his move to abrogate the international nuclear agreement with Iran, and reports that he had asked military officials to increase the US nuclear arsenal by a factor of ten.
4) Henry Lowendorf, Co-Chair, Greater New Haven Peace Council, talks about an upcoming event with South Korean peace activist Joyakgol on October 24th in New Haven, CT. He'll also discuss President Trump's threats to world peace in Korea, Iran and elsewhere and the Greater New Haven Peace Council's local response.
