Episode: 05.31.21: Counterpoint host Scott Harris discusses the GOP's ongoing insurrection and attack on Democracy; Challenging the US-Israel special relationship; ExxonMobil on losing end of stockholder rebellion & Challenging Muslim discrimination in CT prisons

Counterpoint, hosted by Scott Harris, is heard every Monday night on WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT between 8:00 - 10:00 pm ET. Webstreaming and audio archive at http://wpkn.org

1) Sarah Kendzior, author of “Hiding in Plain Sight: The Invention of Donald Trump and the Erosion of America,” and cohost of Gaslit Nation, a weekly podcast, talks about her views on the Republican Party decision to block establishment of a Congressional commission to investigate the January 6th pro-Trump insurrection, Senate Democrats inability to get the votes necessary to eliminate or reform the filibuster -- and the GOP's coast-to-coast drive to suppress the vote and disempower local election boards.

2) Melvin Goodman is a senior fellow at the Center for International Policy, and an adjunct professor of international relations at Johns Hopkins University --who served as a CIA intelligence analyst from 1966 to 1990. Goodman is the author of several books including, "Failure of Intelligence: The Decline and Fall of the CIA," and his latest titled, “The Dangerous National Security State.” He'll discuss his recent article, "Loosening the Tie to Israel," and assesses what we know thus far about President Biden's Middle East foreign policy.

3) Nicholas Kusnetz, a reporter with InsideClimate News, talks about his recent article, "ExxonMobil Shareholders to Company: We Want a Different Approach to Climate Change," assessing the power of investors to change the policies of the fossil fuel industry as the world confronts the climate crisis.

4) Amina Seyal and other members of the group Abolition Ummah, discuss their work supporting Muslims incarcerated in Connecticut's prison system through the concept of mutual aid, while raising awareness about discrimination and abuses suffered by Muslims within the U.S. prison industrial complex.
