Episode: Connections with Special Guest Chris Frantz of Talking Heads on his new memoir Remain In Love plus new and vintage music

July 17, 2020 episode of Connections on WPKN with Eric Cocks. It's spontaneous! New and vintage music. Plus an informal interview with my good friend Chris Frantz, founding member of Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club, discussing his very entertaining and insightful new memoir, Remain In Light. It's also quite funny!

In the book, Chris goes into great detail on his early days, how they influenced his music and his drumming, how and why he went to RISD as an artist and met Tina Weymouth and David Byrne, formed a very original band and became part of the New Wave/Punk scene in CBGBs and beyond on their way to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And then formed Tom Tom Club with Tina, becoming very influential while selling more records than Talking Heads. Great stories about being on the road with The Ramones on their first tour of Europe and the UK, along with the experiences and people they met along the way. It's also a love story about Tina!

The show includes new music by Bob Dylan, Sam Phillips, Margo Price, M. Ward, Warren Zanes, a Tom Petty home demo, tone-clusters (a new project by Eric Gorfain of The Section Quartet), Daphne Guiness produced by Tony Visconti, Joan Jett covering Marc Bolan and T Rex produced by Hal Wilner, Lianne La Haves, Spooky Ghost (Gerry Leonard), Michael Stipe & Big Red Machine, John Tejada and more.

Plus The Beatles, Talking Heads, Mose Allison, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Tom Tom Club, The Shirts, Garland Jeffreys, The Troggs, Ringo Starr, The Hollies, The Beach Boys, The Squeaky Chairs, The Lost Chords, Hooda Thunkit and whatever happened in the moment.

Thanks for tuning in!!
