1) Rev. Graylan Hagler, Senior Pastor Plymouth Congregational Church of Christ in Washington, D. C. talks about the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, the militant protests, looting and property destruction that followed, and how the the nation should address the lack of accountability for police violence against people of color across America.'
2) Kenneth R. Peres, retired as chief economist of the Communications Workers of America, and formerly served as economist for the Northern Cheyenne Tribe, the Montana House Select Committee on Economic Development, and the Montana Alliance for Progressive Policy. Peres discusses his recent article titled, "Murderer in Chief: Donald Trump and the Tens of Thousands Coronavirus Dead," which examines the need for accountability for a president whose inaction is responsible for an obscene number of deaths.
3) Jessica González, Co-CEO of the media democracy group Free Press, discusses President Trump's recent executive order attempting to punish social media companies by changing the interpretation of Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act, that currently protects online platforms from liability for content they host that is posted by others. She'll also address the threat to free speech, and the importance of a free & open Internet in the midst of the pandemic.
4) Ben Martin, web coordinator with the Connecticut chapter of the climate change group 350.org, talks about the car caravan protest being organized on June 5th, that will circle the CT headquarters of the Dept. of Energy & Environmental Protection and the State Capitol to demand that Gov. Lamont and Comm. Dykes cancel the unneeded fracked gas power plant to be built by NTE in Killingly, CT. The caravan will then go to the Governor's mansion at 990 Prospect Avenue in Hartford.
5) Mercy Quaye, founder and principal consultant with The Narrative Project, a new communications and consulting firm with social justice at its core, will discuss the group's new podcast co-produced by Artspace New Haven, "Revolution on Trial." The 8-part series which through first-hand accounts, looks at the Black Panther Party in New Haven, which 50 years ago organized a rally on the New Haven Green to protest the trial of nine party members who were being tried on charges relating to the kidnapping and murder of Panther member and suspected FBI informant, Alex Rackley.
