Episode: 04.29.19: Counterpoint's Scott Harris discusses the Trump Adm effort to include citizenship question in 2020 Census; Protection Collective "Occupies" Venezuelan Embassy; Brazil's Bolsonaro threatens Amazon rainforest; Joe Biden's legislative history

Counterpoint, hosted by Scott Harris, is heard every Monday night on WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT between 8:00 - 10:00 pm ET. Webstreaming and audio archive at http://wpkn.org

1) Kristen Clarke, president & executive director of the National Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, talks about her group's response to the recent Supreme Court hearing where arguments were made for and against the Trump administration's effort to place a citizenship question in the 2020 U.S. Census. She'll also assess the consequences for the nation if the citizenship question is permitted to be included in the census questionnaire.

2) Kevin Zeese is a public interest attorney, co-director of PopularResistance.org, It’s Our Economy and Attorney General for the Green Shadow Cabinet. Kevin also serves in the leadership of the groups World Beyond War and Come Home America. Here he'll discuss the reasons why a protective occupation has been organized at Venezuela's Washington D.C. embassy in order to prevent the diplomatic outpost from being taken over by the self-declared government of opposition leader Juan Guaidó.

3) Andrew Miller, Advocacy Director with the group Amazon Watch who will discuss the current major protests by indigenous Brazilians in the nation's capital, in opposition to the policies of Brazil's right wing president Jair Bolsonaro to exploit and clear cut large swaths of the Amazon rainforest -- as well as the consequences of accelerated deforestation on the planet's climate and ecosystem.

4) Andrew Cockburn, journalist and author who currently serves as Washington Editor with Harper's Magazine. His most recent book is titled, "Kill Chain: The Rise of the High-Tech Assassins?." He'll discuss his article, "No Joe! Joe Biden's Disastrous Legislative Legacy," as he assesses the field of 20 Democratic candidates now vying for the party's presidential nomination.
