Episode: 11.12.18: Counterpoint host Scott Harris discusses voter suppression in the 2018 midterm election; Protecting the Mueller probe after Trump fires AG Jeff Sessions; a progressive agenda for the Democratic House & Connecticut election results

Counterpoint, hosted by Scott Harris, is heard every Monday night on WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT between 8:00 - 10:00 pm ET. Webstreaming and audio archive at http://wpkn.org

1) John Cusick, a fellow at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund who co-led the group's 'Prepared to Vote' efforts at the polls on the Nov. 6th election, assesses the voter suppression tactics and disenfranchisement of voters in the 2018 midterm election -- and initiatives to eliminate deliberate partisan efforts to place obstacles in the way of all Americans' right to vote.

2) Lisa Gilbert, Vice President of Legislative Affairs with Public Citizen, discusses President Trump's firing of U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the mobilization of people across the US who protested in over 1,000 cities demanding that Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation be protected.

3) Norman Solomon, co-founder of RootsAction.org and founding director of the Institute for Public Accuracy, talks about his recent article, "A Challenge to the New Blue Congress: Govern as Progressives," where he'll assess the strength of left movements' capacity to influence the Democratic party agenda in the House -- and concerns about the next 2 years of the Trump presidency.

4) Tom Swan, executive director of the Connecticut Citizen Action Group discusses progressive gains in the state legislature in the 2018 election, and the work CCAG and other progressive activist groups will be doing to influence public policies of the incoming administration of CT governor-elect Ned Lamont.
