Kevin speaks with one of the brighest stars of Jazz and Latin Jazz piano, Elio Villafranca about his upcoming show in New York City.
Elio Villafranca heads to the City College Center for the Arts on Friday, March 31, with the latest in his popular "Letters to Mother Africa" concerts. The last one was named one of the best concerts of 2016! This one, "Cuba - Senegal: Letters to Mother Africa II," delves into the powerful influence of African percussion on jazz and rumba. The Cuban jazz pianist, composer and band leader heads up an all-star band, including Vince Herring (alto saxophone), Bruce Harris (trumpet), Steve Turre (trombone), Ricky Rodriguez (bass), Dion Parson (drums) and Miguelito Valdes (congas), playing with a string quartet.
